Creating defensible space. “Defensible space” is an area between an improved property, e.g. house, barn, etc., and a potential wildfire where the combustibles have been removed or modified to prevent fire from transferring to the structure. Defensible space is a research and tested way to increase the probability that a home will survive a wildfire disaster.
